Bachelor training program in Accounting

I. Training program:

1. General information:

  • Major: Accounting

  • Degree: Bachelor

  • Duration: 4 years of full- time study

  • Enrollment: Candidates who are high school graduates participate in the annual entrance examination have to meet the entry requirements of VNU, University of Economics and Business and the Accounting major.

2. Program objectives:

Students graduate who from the program are Bachelors of Accounting, are able to perform the profession of accounting and auditing in enterprises, organizations; research and teach in accounting and auditing in research or higher education institutes; participate in higher education to gain experience to become leaders, specialists in the field of accounting - auditing.

3. Career orientation for Bachelor of Acccounting:

Group 1 - Accounting Officier: Have the qualification to work in enterprises, economic organizations and other organizations; can undertake tasks such as: cash accounting, accrual accounting, turnover - cost accounting, receivable - payable accounting, capital accounting, tax accountin; in the future can become a senior accountant, fund managers, internal auditors.

Group 2 - Analyst and consultant:Have the ability to work in financial advisory companies; can undertake the analyzing assistant and consultant on accounting, tax and finance; in future can become an analyst and consultant on accounting, taxation and finance.

Group 3 - Audit assistant: Have th ability to work in audit companies or undertake the accounting services, auditing for businesses; in the future become leader of the audit team, senior auditor. s

Group 4 - Researcher and lecturer:Be able to research and teach at colleges/universities and research institutions; participate in sectors relating to accounting, auditing, teaching assistant or teaching accounting and auditing subjects; in the future can become lecturers, senior researchers in the field of accounting and auditing.

II. Program outcome-based standard:

1.  Knowledge competence:

  • Applying knowledge of mathematics, natural science and basic economics on dealing with theoretical and practical issues relating to their major.

  • Applying the basic knowledge of accounting, auditing to formulate and describe the financial and accounting reports of enterprises and economic organizations; analyzing the basic issues in business financial management.

  • Analyzing and evaluating the accounting - audit issues of enterprises, economic organizations; analyzing and evaluating an accounting process of economic organizations; designing and analyzing the financial reports; analyzing internal audit process, financial audit, and participating in the business financial forecast.

  • Employing the knowledge of practice and probation to fulfill the assigned tasks.

  • Employing the theoretical and practical knowledge to analyze, synthesize and deal with specific research issues in accounting - audit and finance.

2.  Skills:

2.1. Professional skills:

  • Having the capability of reasoning, thinking systematically; researching and solving issues in the fields of accounting - auditing.

  •  Having professional reasoning skills, detecting and solving problems in the field of accounting - auditing.

  • Having the awareness of social context, external and organizational context to apply to accounting - auditing activities.

  • Having the ability to apply knowledge and skills into practice; initially forming the creativeness for career development.

2.2. Solf skills:

  • Having the ability to work independently and in team; self-learning and research, working due to plans and scientifically; having time management skill, individual assignment allocating.

  • Having good communication skills (presentation and negotiation skills in business; transaction skill via telephone, e-mail), communicate in English of 5.0 IELTS competence or higher.

  • Having ability to use Microsoft Office proficiently (Word, Excel, Power Point) and some accounting software, internet and office equipment.

3. Personality:

  • Personality: Self-confident, courageous, recognizing others’ achievements.
  • Professional morality: truthful, responsible, reliable, thorough, principled, professional style.
  • Social morality: benevolent, generous, tolerant, to appreciate the traditional moral values, to be aware of responsibility and obligations, to have proper behaviors.

III. Conditions of program implementation:

  • Students are provided with personal account to register the credit, follow up the academic schedule, results and download the course outline from student Portal system; accessing the reference system and updated textbook and data at the Center for Information and Documentation - VNU and Documentation Office of the University of Economics and Business.

  • Training in credit; sophomores and juniors are sent to a probation course  in enterprises or economic organizations.

  • Being recognized and considered by ACCA to exempt from 4 to 9 subjects for certification exam for professional accountants (ACCA, CAT) of the ACCA on the global scale and are provided free ACCA Career Pathways Guidebook (professional development guide) published by ACCA globally; Being supported in training practical accounting software by MISA Company.

  • Students participate in research activities, conferences, seminars, extra-curricular activities, short-term training courses on specialized professional and soft skills; having the opportunity to receive scholarships from other organizations.
