1. About Uppsala University:

Uppsala University, founded in 1477, is the most long-established university in the Nordic countries. It was ranked 63 in the Top 200 world university rankings. Uppsala is known as one of the leading institution in teaching and research. The Uppsala University, situated 75 km north of Stockholm, has attracted many Vietnamese and international students to study thanks to its best studying conditions and cares. It comprises of 9 faculties, including arts, policical science, laws, pharmacy, science and technology… Eight Nobel laureates have also helped make the University known all over the world. Uppsala University offers more than 50 programs for beginners, about 45 master programs, and nearly 2,000 single-subject courses.

2. About the program:

The program is authorized by the Vietnam National University, Hanoi following official document No. 2176/SDH (July, 19, 2009), the Master Program of Public Management - MPPM is for leaders, managers, officers working for public sectors at ministries, sectors, central and local offfices, policy makers, researchers, lecturers and business managers.
Goals of the program:

  • Help learners improve knowledge and professional skills in managing public organizations management and apply into practice.

  • Improve and perfect managerial and leadership thinking for learners.

  • Create social and business relations.

Teaching staff: Lecturers of the course are leading experts of Uppsala University and Vietnam in public management. Beside core lectures, each subject will include teaching assistants and famous speakers, such as former Miniter Trade Truong Dinh Tuyen; Prof.PhD. Tran Ngoc Duong - vice head of the National Assembly’s office; PhD. Dinh Duy Hoa - General Director of Public Administration Reform, Ministry of Home Affairs; Prof.PhD. Hoang Phuoc Hiep - International Law Department, Ministry of Justice; Luong Hoang Thai - Deputy Director of the Multilateral and Trade Policy Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Doctor Vo Chi Thanh - Deputy directors of the Central Institute for Economic Management, etc. The speakers will provide real situations and information related to each issue.

Learners: Beside experienced lecturers and experts, learners involving in the program are those occupying important positions in the public sector, such as Head of Banking Inspection and Supervision Agency - the State bank of Vietnam; Vice head of Department for Quality Management of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Editor-in-chief of Vietnamese Student Magazine; Vice head of the Vietnam Customs’ office; vice head of the Export-Import Deparment, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, etc. The program targets to create the best study environment provide practical knowledge and bridge social connections among learners.

3. Enrollment conditions:

  • At least one bachelor’s degree accredited in Vietnam

  • Two-year work experience in the field for learners who have successfully completed accredited school of social work and three-year work experience for those of other majors

  • Successful pass the entrance exam including 3 sections:
- Professional writing (giving comment on one situation in public management)
- English language test: B level
- Interview

4. Priority for students:

  • English language test is exempted for the following cases:
  • Having TOEFL ITP 450/ TOEFL iBT or 45/ IELTS 4.5 and upward or equivalent certificates within 2 years from granting date,
  • Completing accredited university regular program degree with English language major; for irregular training program, learners must acquire good level and above certificates.
  • Completing accredited graduate, master, Phd programs abroad which are given in English or by domestic educational establishments which give lectures without translation.
  • Having English language certificate, level B, granted by the University of Languages and International Studies - National University, Hanoi or Hanoi University within one year from granting date.

Those having passed entrance exam and exempted from English language tests are required to hand in English language certificates: TOEFL ibt 45/ IELTS 4.5/ TOEFL ITP 450/English language level B granted by the University of Languages and International Studies - National University, Hanoi or Hanoi University before defending thesis.

5. Documents:

  • University certificate and transcript (certified copies in English and Vietnamese)

  • 02 reccomendation letters (following forms)

  • Cirriculum vitae (sealed by working offices or local authorities)

  • English language certificate (if any)

  • Four 4 x 6cm photos
